ITI Wound Treatment System Testimonials

I have had the pleasure of using the ITI wound treatment products now for several months and would like to express my extreme preference for the ITI system over the KCI system. In addition to getting excellent results, the ITI products are almost foolproof. ITI's device only requires one button to turn it on and off versus KCI's device which requires 3 buttons and a waiting period before it turns on. KCI's device also has low sounding alarms; the unit shuts itself off and the staff is unaware that it isn't working. Unlike ITI's devices, the KCI devices require almost constant monitoring to ensure that they continue to provide therapy.

There are two separate tubing connections on the KCI products, one from the dressing and the second to the canister. The luer lock connector between the two has broken on several occasions. A broken luer lock means bearing the expense of an entirely new KCI canister or dressing kit in order to use the system.

Customer service is of premium quality at ITI. The representatives from ITI have provided multiple informative in-services and assistance with difficult wound device placements. I can say without any hesitation that I prefer ITI products and highly recommend them.

At the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, we were looking for a fairly priced negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) device. We required close support for clinical trials, insurance authorization, and procedure integration. During this two-year process, ITI has worked with us every step of the way.

For our initial trials, ITI modified equipment according to our suggestions. Despite the nursing staff's initial skepticism, they responded positively to ITI's hands-on training seminars and their patients' irrefutably good outcomes. Comments in our periodic nursing surveys praised the units' ease of use and durability - especially important for patients treated at home. At-home patients were particularly happy with the device's quiet operation - finally they could get some sleep!

During this time, ITI became a preferred provider for our Blue Cross and Blue Shield health plan: The Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA). At our suggestion, ITI contracted with a home care company covering all the Hawaiian Islands. This made a significant difference in patient billings. ITI patients' maximum home care co-pay was significantly lower; indeed some patients' plans required no co-pay at all. This was a welcome contrast to the upfront $2000 collected by our previous NPWT company - a financial barrier that had delayed some discharges to home care.

We have now expanded use of the ITI Wound Treatment System to all facilities in our nonprofit medical system: Hawai'i Pacific Health. Whenever we have a question - clinical or administrative - we are secure knowing we will get a fast, expert response. Change is difficult. But with the help of ITI, it has happened for the better for our clinicians and patients."
